Porinju Veliyath was born on 26 June 1962 in Chalakudy, Kerala, India. He belongs to a very poor family and they do farming for a living. At the age of 16, their family had to sell their house to get rid of a loan. After that, he moved to Ernakulam where he got a Salary paycheck of 1000 Rupees per month. He continued to work hard and then he was promoted to the position of Ernakulam phone operator.
